Lip Service Splash Page
By Jim Fisher | November 8, 2008
We like to keep the look for the Lip Service splash page regularly updated, to keep it fresh and remind the customer that we’re always working on something new.
Take a look at the past incarnations of the Lip Service splash page:

Cinevolve Studios Website
By Jim Fisher | October 22, 2008
We’re constantly updating the Cinevolve Studios site, because the team over there is kicking some serious butt, finding great new independent films and documentaries to add to their already-impressive lineup.

Lip Service Webzine
By Jim Fisher | October 20, 2008
We did a complete re-design and re-programming on the Lip Service blog/webzine. We set up the homepage to automatically update when various sections of the webzine are updated with new content, and we also added some new user-oriented sections to encourage more community interaction.

Axis of Evil Comedy Tour Website
By Jim Fisher | April 12, 2008
Sadly, the Axis of Evil Comedy group has disbanded. With the group went the complete flash website, recently replaced by a stripped-down version linking to the individual comics’ sites. We have placed the original site on our server to allow you to see it as it was meant to be seen.

Lip Service Website
By Mich Fisher | March 1, 2008
After months of planning, design, and collaboration with the database team, the new Lip Service website is live at last! So, also at last, we can formally announce here that we are the new WebMasters (or in my case WebMistress) of Lip-Service.com and show you what we’ve been doing for the past few months without detracting from the actual site launch.
To provide a bit of background, Lip Service is one of the most well-known and respected niche clothing manufacturers in the industry. They had a website, but it had not been updated in quite a long time. We visited them to talk about something else entirely and, after a few conversations, wound up working closely with the database programmers and Drew Bernstein (the owner, founder, and all-around groovy cat) to completely update, streamline and improve everything about the site and e-commerce operations. We created the new concept and look, while adding new customer-friendly functionality and streamlining the existing site features. We’ve also added a rather ambitious blog-style community and features page with articles, photo features and video we’ve produced, as well as customer-driven features such as a jukebox and photo contests.
The first sample I’ve included is the Home page, a flash animation introducing the new navigation, based on Lip Service’s five style divisions.

The next sample is one of the division pages. The old site had navigation which involved an unwieldy drop-down menu to go to individual style groups in the collection. We improved the experience by using a large view screen to preview groups with a roll-over which makes it easier for shoppers to select preferred styles from the online catalog. We also added a features bar, which shows community information as well as videos premiering on the site. The other main site feature we added is the Soundtrack, which plays songs submitted by the community and promotes emerging bands in various genres of interest to Lip Service customers.

Below is the Style page, which provides details about individual garments in the collection. Here, we’ve given a larger area to view the styles, as well as an additional view window. Future improvements, including a Zoom feature, are in the works.

The last sample is the front page of the Community and Features section. The page itself is an extremely tweaked blog we created using WordPress, with rotating flash callouts and a host of articles and features. At present, we provide all content for the blog, including videos, behind the scenes photo journals and extras such as downloadable wallpapers (which will be included here in different posts).

Pat’s Cocktail Lounge
By Mich Fisher | September 16, 2007

Pat’s Cocktail Lounge is one of the greater LA area’s best dives. In designing their new website, I wanted to keep the fun, casual feel of the bar itself and show pictures of the nightly madness as well as information, reviews, etc. The resulting page uses a neon bar sign theme with bold accents against a night backdrop.

Black Velvet Motorcycle Hearse Company Website
By Mich Fisher | September 1, 2007

Black Velvet is a company with a very unique service and prospective clientele. They have created a hearse which can be pulled behind a motorcycle for people who wish to remain bikers in spirit, even at their own funerals. The first image is closer to what the final look of the site with have, while the second is a draft which was not used as it is not quite black enough (hence, the watermark on creepy stock art), though I am still rather happy with the overall look and feel.

African Cultural Arts Program Website
By Mich Fisher | August 25, 2007
The website for the African Cultural Arts Program is one of the largest and most comprehensive sites I’ve created. Each page is packed with reference links, feature articles and helpful references and resources in individual windows to make finding relevant information a simple matter of selecting from the left navigation bar, then examining the sub-sections on that page. In addition to logo and site design, I wrote much of the copy for the site, researched links, artists, and destinations, and edited excerpts for site reference.

All About Stone Website

All About Stone is a regional import/distributor with a design showroom North of Los Angeles. They needed a website which introduces their company, products, and showroom to potential B2B, trade, and retail clients alike and combines engaging looks with simple, straightforward navigation. In creating the site, I shot all photographs and wrote all copy as well as designing the image and branding concepts.
